At the recently held 2026 Germany Cologne International Tire Exhibition, China's leading tire smart manufacturing enterprise Sentinel (002984.SZ) revealed its latest strategic plan for deepening its presence in the European market. The company announced plans to build a new smart passenger tire factory in the Balkan region serving Europe, with the location to be finalized within two to three months and mass production targeted for 2027. This marks a comprehensive leap for Sentinel from traditional "product exporting" to "capacity exporting and local operation".

Placing a Move in the Balkans: Closer to End Markets, Reshaping the Supply Chain Map

According to a relevant person in charge of Sentinel's European region, the planned new Balkan factory will focus on intelligent production of radial tires for passenger cars. This move has extremely high commercial strategic value, not only allowing the company's automated production system to be directly close to European end customers, reducing reliance on long-distance sea freight, but also being adjacent to European tire industry clusters to achieve efficient supply chain collaboration. As early as 2021, Sentinel had planned to build a factory in Spain but failed to proceed. The advancement of this Balkan project marks the substantial resumption of its European capacity layout.

Deepening Local Channels: Farewell to Low-Price Dumping, Focusing on Core Categories

Beyond capacity planning, Sentinel has also launched a deep European local operation model. In the Western European market, the company has reached an exclusive distribution cooperation with well-known distributor Intersprint, explicitly refusing the extensive entry route of simple low-price dumping, and instead focusing on the combination of brand positioning and mature marketing systems. At the same time, Sentinel actively conducts strategic focus, concentrating core resources on passenger car and truck and bus tire businesses, and no longer ventures into niche categories such as agricultural tires. This new approach relying on exclusive distribution and deep local cooperation completely says farewell to the traditional "export directly after production" model.

Flexible Manufacturing Synergy: Multi-Site Layout Calmly Responds to Trade Barriers

Efforts in European localization rely on Sentinel's increasingly comprehensive global flexible manufacturing network. Currently, the company has completed construction and put into operation three major production bases: Qingdao, China; Rayong, Thailand; and Tangier, Morocco. Among them, the Morocco factory plans to achieve scaled mass production in 2026, becoming a strategic fulcrum for exports to Europe. Adding the Thailand factory, these two overseas bases have become the core support for Sentinel to cope with trade barriers and ensure supply chain stability. The addition of the Balkan new factory will further complete the last piece of the puzzle for European local capacity.
