Recently, news of a Tesla with Malaysian license plates appearing on Chongqing streets sparked intense discussion on social media platforms. Malaysian owner @Nanren shared their journey driving from Malaysia to Chongqing and expressed plans to continue driving trips within China.

According to the owner, the trip began in Malaysia, passed through Thailand and Laos, entered China via the Manan Port in Yunnan, and finally arrived in Chongqing after a long-distance self-driving journey.

Many Chinese netizens shared their real-life photos of unexpectedly encountering the car on the streets:

Behind the high attention, blogger @CaffeineSuperChargeStation interpreted that the value of this trip is maxed out: 'Among pure electric vehicles, it seems only Tesla dares to drive like this.'

For car enthusiasts globally, driving a Tesla to complete a cross-country road trip has become 'common practice'. Previously, foreign media reported that Norwegian owner Axel Klanderud drove a Model 3 from Oslo, passing through Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal, and ten other countries, finally arriving in Morocco, Africa, with a total distance exceeding 10,000 kilometers.

Chinese owner @_solodu drove a Model Y from Shanghai, passing through Kazakhstan, Russia, and the three Baltic states, then from Finland to Sweden, finally arriving in Bergen, Norway. The total distance was about 17,000 kilometers, taking about 60 days, covering extreme road conditions such as deserts and extreme cold.

The smooth execution of numerous cross-border road trips is also the best proof of Tesla's convenient and efficient global charging network. As of Q2 2026, Tesla has built over 82,000 Superchargers globally; in mainland China, Superchargers have reached 13,000, with the charging network covering 100% of provincial capitals and direct-controlled municipalities, and real-time availability maintains the industry-leading 99.95%.
