As of now, Hyundai hasn't officially launched the Grandeur EV in Malaysia, so there's no local official pricing yet. However, we can look to overseas markets for a ballpark figure – in South Korea, for instance, it's priced between approximately 60 million to 70 million KRW, which converts to around RM210,000 to RM250,000. The actual price would, of course, depend on the specific configuration and import duties involved.
This flagship EV is built on Hyundai's E-GMP platform, featuring a single-motor front-wheel-drive setup that delivers 215 horsepower. It's equipped with a 77.4kWh battery pack, offering a WLTP-rated range of about 500 kilometers, and supports 400V/800V ultra-fast charging technology.
For Malaysian consumers, if the model does make its way here in the future, it's worth considering the current tax exemption policies for imported electric vehicles. However, one should also keep an eye on charging infrastructure compatibility, as the local mainstream charging standard is the CCS2 connector.
In terms of competitors, the BMW i5, which has already landed in Malaysia, and the upcoming Mercedes-Benz EQE are worth looking at. That said, Hyundai typically holds an edge when it comes to value for money. What's more, in recent years, the brand has made significant strides in EV cold-weather performance and battery management technology.
If you're interested, we'd recommend keeping an eye on Hyundai Malaysia's official website for updates, or reaching out to authorized dealers to inquire about the possibility of parallel imports and comprehensive after-sales packages.
