If an engine lacks a lubrication system, it will lead to catastrophic consequences. Engine oil performs multiple critical functions in the engine: its lubricating effect reduces direct metal friction between precision components such as pistons and cylinder walls, crankshafts and connecting rods, preventing abnormal wear and even cylinder scuffing; the heat dissipation function carries away high temperatures through oil circulation, avoiding thermal deformation or sintering of components. When lubrication is insufficient, the friction coefficient inside the engine rises sharply, accelerating metal debris generation and creating a vicious cycle. The temperature may exceed the safety threshold, causing irreversible damage such as bearing bush burning or piston ring seizure. Short-term symptoms include abnormal noise, power loss and surging fuel consumption, while continued operation may lead to complete engine seizure, with repair costs potentially reaching 5,000 to 15,000 ringgit. Regular inspection of oil level and quality using the dipstick is recommended, along with adherence to a replacement interval of every 5,000 to 10,000 kilometers or 6 months (depending on driving conditions). Using fully synthetic oil meeting manufacturer certification standards significantly enhances protection. If the oil pressure warning light illuminates, immediately shut off the engine for inspection to prevent minor issues from escalating into major failures.
