Important to note: diesel engines typically need oil changes more frequently than petrol ones – around every 5,000 to 8,000 kilometers or 6 months, whichever comes first. Always double-check your owner’s manual for the exact interval.
In the Malaysian market, some reliable go-to options are brands like Shell Rimula R6, Castrol GTX Diesel, or Petronas Syntium 7000. When you’re picking one up, make sure the packaging has the JASO DH-2 certification mark – that’s a must. Diesel engines are pretty fussy about oil cleanliness; using cheap, low-quality stuff can easily lead to DPF clogging or even turbocharger damage. It’s a good habit to regularly check your oil level and condition too. If you notice the oil turning black quickly or the level dropping unexpectedly, get it checked out by a mechanic ASAP.
