According to Malaysian traffic regulations, vehicles must be equipped with headlights complying with the MS 828 standard and must have them turned on from 19:00 to 7:00 the following day. All lighting devices, including low-beam headlights, high-beam headlights, taillights, and turn signals, need to be SIRIM-certified to ensure their brightness, waterproofness, and UV resistance meet local climate and road requirements. Uncertified lights may be considered illegal modifications for failing to meet safety standards. Additionally, adjusting the beam angle of vehicle lights to adapt to left-hand traffic rules is necessary to avoid glare for oncoming vehicles. When driving an imported vehicle, special attention should be paid to whether the lights comply with local regulations; otherwise, you may face fines or fail the vehicle's annual inspection. Vehicle lights are not only a safety guarantee for night driving but also, during the day with low visibility (such as heavy rain or fog), fog lights should be turned on to improve visibility.
