Which car brands are RWD?

In the Malaysian market, models with a rear-wheel drive (RWD) layout are rare, primarily concentrated among luxury brands and certain performance models. High-end versions of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, E-Class, and S-Class sedans typically offer RWD options, while traditional sports sedans like the BMW 3 Series and 5 Series also maintain RWD platforms to preserve driving enjoyment. Among domestic brands, early versions of Proton's classic Perdana V6 utilized a Mitsubishi-supplied RWD platform, though current models have transitioned to front-wheel drive. Notably, bespoke models from luxury handcrafted automaker Bufori, such as the Geneva and MKIII, also employ RWD architecture, emphasizing driving refinement and exclusivity. RWD vehicles excel in handling and power distribution, but due to cost and space efficiency constraints, they occupy a smaller share of the mainstream family car market and are more prevalent in models prioritizing driving dynamics or specialized functions.
