In automotive terminology, MT stands for Manual Transmission, referring to vehicles with a manual gearbox. Its core principle is to directly control the meshing state of the gear sets inside the transmission through the mechanical linkage between the clutch pedal and the gear lever to achieve gear shifting. Compared to automatic transmission vehicles, manual transmission vehicles have the advantages of simple structure, low manufacturing cost (typically about RM10,000 cheaper than the automatic version of the same model), high transmission efficiency, and lower maintenance costs. They are particularly suitable for drivers who value driving engagement, as precise gear shifting can enhance power response when navigating curves or inclines. Notably, although the "M" mode (Manual Mode) in some semi-automatic transmissions simulates manual gear shifting, it remains fundamentally an automatic transmission system, distinct from the purely mechanical MT design. If the transmission warning light illuminates on the dashboard, the vehicle should be stopped and inspected immediately to prevent more severe damage from overheating or mechanical wear.
