Among the currently available models, those still equipped with naturally aspirated engines include the 1.6-litre version of Proton Persona (110 hp), the 1.3-litre base version (94 hp) and 1.5-litre premium version (102 hp) of Perodua Myvi, as well as the 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G engine (162 hp) featured across the entire Mazda 3 lineup. Additionally, renderings of the 2026 Perodua Myvi indicate it will retain the 1.3-litre and 1.5-litre naturally aspirated options, while the Proton Saga utilizes a self-developed 1.3-litre engine mated with either a 5MT or 4AT transmission. Notably, while Mazda 3 has phased out its 1.5-litre variant, it has bolstered the appeal of naturally aspirated models by making the 2.0-litre engine standard throughout the range and enhancing the i-Activsense safety system. Moving forward, amid electrification trends, naturally aspirated engines may increasingly combine with hybrid systems, as exemplified by the Myvi hybrid's technical approach, to achieve optimal balance between fuel efficiency and driving dynamics.
