The use of fog lights while driving is usually directly related to low-visibility weather conditions. According to traffic regulations and driving safety standards, fog lights should be activated when visibility is below 200 meters, such as in heavy fog, heavy rain, or severe smog. Front fog lights use high-penetration yellow or white light, which can illuminate the nearby road surface and warn oncoming vehicles, while rear fog lights use a striking high-brightness red light to alert following vehicles and reduce the risk of rear-end collisions. This practice not only violates regulations (and may result in point deductions and fines) but also the excessively strong light can interfere with other road users, especially increasing visual fatigue for drivers behind at night. For correct operation, you should first turn on the low beam headlights, then activate the corresponding fog light settings via a knob, lever, or touch interface. Halogen fog lights are more suitable for rainy and foggy environments, while LED fog lights balance energy efficiency and high brightness. To ensure safety, they must be used in conjunction with measures such as reducing speed (when visibility is 100 meters, the speed should be below 40 km/h) and increasing the distance between vehicles. If a decrease in lamp brightness is noticed, the aging of the circuit or bulb wear should be checked in a timely manner.
