What cars are EREV?

Currently, the available EREV (Extended-Range Electric Vehicle) models on the market include Chery iCar V27 and Avatr 11. As the brand's first EREV SUV, Chery iCar V27 features a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with single/dual motors, offering rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions. It delivers an all-electric range of 210 km and a combined range of approximately 1200 km, with an estimated price range of RM116,000 to RM175,000. Avatr 11 is available in both EREV and pure electric variants. The EREV version is equipped with a 1.5-litre engine and a 231 kW rear-mounted motor, coupled with a 39.05 kWh battery, providing an all-electric range of 225 km and a combined range of 1065 km. These models outperform conventional fuel vehicles in energy efficiency and driving refinement, though their energy conversion efficiency is marginally lower under high-speed conditions, and the range extender necessitates periodic maintenance. With technological advancements, the availability of EREV models in the local market is projected to expand progressively.
