Mild Hybrid is indeed a type of hybrid technology, but it differs significantly from traditional full hybrid systems. Unlike full hybrids, the motor in a mild hybrid cannot independently drive the vehicle, and its fuel-saving effect is typically around 10%-15%, significantly lower than the over 30% fuel-saving rate of full hybrid models. Common technical implementations include 48V electrical systems, which can support the electrification of accessories such as air conditioning compressors while maintaining driving habits similar to those of traditional fuel vehicles. Currently, local market models such as the Perodua Ativa Hybrid and Proton X50 Mild Hybrid utilize this technology, and their prices are generally about RM 5,000 to RM 10,000 higher than those of comparable fuel vehicles, making them suitable for consumers who prioritize fuel economy but have a limited budget. Such models are not eligible for the government's tax incentives for plug-in hybrid or pure electric vehicles.
