Currently, there is no explicit prohibition on disabling the Lane Assist system in Malaysia's traffic regulations. However, this feature is part of active safety configurations, designed to reduce traffic accidents caused by lane departure. It is particularly emphasized that if an accident occurs due to lane departure caused by manually disabling the driving assistance system, the insurance company may determine liability in accordance with Section 43 of the Road Transport Act regarding the requirement of "reasonable and careful driving". Drivers are advised to refer to the vehicle's user manual for instructions; some models require enabling or disabling the function via the central control screen or physical buttons. For example, some Toyota models require pressing and holding the LTA button on the left side of the steering wheel for 3 seconds. From a safety perspective, It is best to keep the system enabled in rainy or foggy weather or on winding road sections.
