The short-circuit faults in automotive circuits are mainly divided into two types: ground short circuit and power short circuit. A ground short circuit refers to a situation where the circuit is directly grounded without passing through the load, usually caused by damage to the wire insulation layer, which may lead to fuse blowing or component burnout. Specifically, it can be divided into two forms: post-switch short circuit (current bypasses the load and is directly grounded) and pre-switch short circuit (current is directly grounded without passing through the switch). A power short circuit occurs when two independent circuits are connected to each other due to insulation damage, potentially causing abnormal circuit control or partial function failure. In addition, short circuits may also be caused by line aging, moisture intrusion, improper installation, or component failure, manifesting as abnormal current increase, fuse blowing, or electrical equipment malfunction. Regularly checking the insulation status of lines, avoiding unauthorized modifications, and maintaining a dry electrical system are key measures to prevent short circuits.
