The Driver Attention Warning (DAW) system in modern Hyundai vehicles is an active safety technology designed to reduce the risk of accidents caused by fatigue or distraction by monitoring driving behavior. The system uses a monocular camera (2C_FrontViewCamera) located at the top of the front windshield to analyze data such as vehicle trajectory and lane-keeping frequency in real time, classifying the driver's attention into levels 1 to 5, where a lower number indicates poorer concentration. When the system detects that the attention level remains below level 1 (e.g., prolonged lack of rest or serpentine driving), the instrument panel will display a "Take a Rest" prompt accompanied by a warning sound, but it will not be triggered if the cumulative driving time is less than 10 minutes. DAW also features a leading vehicle departure alert function, which can detect the movement of the vehicle ahead when the car is stationary. If the system malfunctions (e.g., the front-view camera is obscured, modified wheel size or suspension height affects the camera's field of view), the instrument panel will display a "Check Driver Attention Warning System" message, and this may also affect camera-dependent functions such as smart cruise control and lane keeping. This technology has been applied to multiple Hyundai models including the Tucson, Elantra, and IONIQ 5, and has become an important component of Hyundai's SmartSense active safety suite.
