The Driver Monitoring System (DMS) is an in-vehicle intelligent system that monitors the driver's status in real time through devices such as in-car cameras and infrared sensors. By collecting the driver's facial features (such as eye opening and closing frequency, head posture) and hand movements, and analyzing them with AI algorithms to determine fatigue, gaze deviation, or dangerous behaviors (such as using a mobile phone or smoking), the system provides timely reminders through sound alarms, dashboard prompts, or steering wheel vibrations. For example, when it detects eyes being closed for more than 2 seconds or frequent yawning, the system will identify it as drowsy driving and trigger an alert. Some high-end models also support face recognition for logging into personalized settings or linking with the vehicle's active safety functions (such as automatic speed reduction). In the future, it will integrate multi-modal sensor technology to further improve monitoring accuracy and expand functions such as health management. This system is only an auxiliary tool, and drivers must still maintain focused driving habits.
