Continuing to drive with a damaged wheel bearing poses multiple safety hazards and performance issues. Firstly, the damaged bearing causes abnormal friction between the brake drum and brake pads, significantly increasing rolling resistance and reducing power transmission efficiency, while producing a persistent humming noise that intensifies with vehicle speed. Secondly, the vehicle may pull to one side, with the steering wheel exhibiting vibration and squeaking sounds, while body shuddering worsens at high speeds, severely compromising handling stability. More critically, bearing failure may damage the suspension system, cause abnormal wheel hub temperature rise or even detachment, and in extreme cases, result in steering failure or tyre blowouts. For routine inspection: place your hand on the shock absorber spring while rotating the tyre; detectable vibration or play indicates immediate bearing replacement is required. Bearings must be replaced if axial clearance exceeds 0.05mm. Therefore, any abnormalities should prompt immediate servicing to prevent more severe mechanical failures or traffic accidents.
