In automotive terminology, mirrors used to observe the road conditions behind and on the sides of a vehicle during parking or reversing are collectively referred to as exterior rearview mirrors, which specifically include the left rearview mirror (driver's side) and the right rearview mirror (passenger side). These mirrors use silver, aluminum, or chromium as reflective coating materials, and their angles can be adjusted electrically or manually. Their primary function is to assist drivers in eliminating blind spots when reversing, changing lanes, or parking, thereby ensuring operational safety. The spherical or dual-curvature mirror design of exterior rearview mirrors provides a wider field of view, and some high-end models are additionally equipped with blind spot monitoring systems. According to Malaysian vehicle safety standards, all registered vehicles must be equipped with adjustable exterior rearview mirrors, and their design must comply with local right-hand driving observation requirements.
