The mirror used inside a vehicle to observe the road conditions behind is called a rearview mirror. In English, its professional term is uniformly spelled as "rearview mirror" or "rear-view mirror", specifically referring to the central interior rearview mirror installed above the windshield, whose main function is to help the driver keep track of the traffic dynamics behind the vehicle. Complementing it are the side mirrors installed on both sides of the car doors, and together they form a complete rear vision system. For example, the auto-dimming mirror can automatically adjust its reflectivity according to the intensity of the light from behind, effectively reducing glare interference when driving at night. Some high-end models also adopt digital rearview mirror technology, replacing traditional mirrors with cameras and displays to further expand the field of vision and reduce the risk of blind spots. Proper adjustment of the rearview mirror angles is a basic requirement for safe driving. It is recommended that the central rearview mirror be aligned with the full view of the rear window, while the side mirrors should show about a quarter of the car body and the road behind.
