The Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) system is a driving assistance feature based on on-board cameras and intelligent algorithms. It provides visual or audio prompts to drivers by capturing and analyzing traffic signs on the road in real time. Then, it extracts and classifies the features of the signs through deep learning models (such as YOLOv8), accurately identifying 87 types of signs including speed limits, prohibitions, and instructions, and displays the information on the dashboard or head-up display. Under Malaysia's variable weather and complex road conditions, the accuracy of TSR may be affected by lighting, rain, fog, or faded signs. However, its standardized design can assist drivers in complying with traffic rules and reduce risks such as speeding or violating prohibitions. TSR only serves as a prompt tool and does not participate in vehicle control; drivers still need to maintain active judgment. Currently, local models such as Proton X70 and Toyota Corolla Cross are equipped with this technology, and some systems can also combine navigation data to enhance recognition stability.
