How does the TSR work?

TSR (Traffic Sign Recognition System) is an intelligent driving assistance technology that uses an on-board front-facing camera to capture and analyze road signs in real time. Its core functions include detecting and recognizing speed limit, prohibition, and warning signs. The system first extracts traffic signs from natural scenes based on colour (red/blue/yellow) and shape features, then parses specific content (such as speed limit values or prohibition instructions) through image algorithms, and finally displays the information on the instrument panel or HUD. It can reduce the risk of violations caused by driver negligence, such as automatically prompting curve speed limits or no-overtaking signs in unfamiliar road sections. However, the recognition efficiency of TSR is affected by environmental factors: rain and fog reduce visibility, while camera contamination or tilted vehicle posture may also interfere with detection accuracy. Currently, this system is commonly equipped in new cars priced above 150,000 ringgit, serving as a basic configuration for evaluating vehicle intelligence levels. This remains an auxiliary function, and drivers must always prioritize actual road conditions.
