For urban driving, It is best to inspect them every 10,000 kilometres. If the thickness approaches 5 millimeters or metallic friction sounds are heard, immediate replacement is necessary. New brake pads require a break-in period of 200 to 300 kilometres to achieve optimal performance. Brake fluid should be replaced every 2 years or 40,000 kilometres (reduced to 20,000 kilometres in humid regions). Use DOT3 or DOT4 standard fluid, and replacement is mandatory when the moisture content exceeds 3%. Inspect brake discs every 80,000 to 120,000 kilometres. If unilateral wear exceeds 3 millimeters or grooves are present, replacement or resurfacing is required. For routine maintenance, keep the braking system clean by using specialized cleaners to remove dust and oil deposits, and examine brake hoses for aging or cracks. Minimize emergency braking during the first 1,000 kilometres of a new vehicle to facilitate proper break-in.
