BSD is the abbreviation of Blind Spot Detection, known in Chinese as the Blind Spot Monitoring System. It is an active safety feature that uses radar or cameras to monitor the blind spots on the side and rear of a vehicle in real time. Typically covering a range of 3 to 8 meters on the side and rear, the system alerts the driver via flashing indicators on the exterior mirrors or warning sounds when it detects a vehicle approaching in an adjacent lane. It automatically activates when the vehicle speed exceeds 15 km/h, and is particularly suitable for scenarios with poor visibility such as high-speed lane changes, nighttime driving, or rainy and foggy weather. Some high-end models also integrate extended reverse monitoring and door-opening warning functions. Test data shows that BSD can reduce lane-change accident rates by approximately 34%. Currently, it is commonly standard equipment on mainstream mid-to-high-end models, and some high-trim versions of family cars priced around 100,000 ringgit also offer it as an option. This system is an auxiliary function, and drivers still need to combine it with manual observation to ensure safety.
