Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) system can reduce the risk of traffic accidents caused by visual blind spots. It uses radar or cameras to monitor the dynamics within a range of approximately 20 meters behind and to the sides of the vehicle in real time. When a vehicle or obstacle is detected in the blind spot, it alerts the driver through flashing LED lights on the rearview mirror, audible warnings, or tactile feedback. However, the system has limitations: for example, extreme weather may affect sensor accuracy, and it cannot completely replace manual observation. Currently, some vehicle models have made it a standard feature. It is recommended that even if equipped with BSM, drivers should still use rearview mirrors and turn their heads to confirm safety, while regularly cleaning the sensors to maintain system sensitivity.
