When cracks appear in the transmission case, using epoxy resin adhesives such as JB Weld for repair is a feasible temporary solution, but cautious operation is required based on the severity and location of the cracks. This method has a low cost (approximately 50 to 150 Malaysian Ringgit) and is suitable for emergency repairs of non-load-bearing components. If the crack is located in a stress-bearing area or exceeds 5 cm, relying solely on adhesive repair is not recommended, as long-term use may lead to secondary cracking or oil leakage. In such cases, professional welding repair (nickel-based electrodes for cast iron parts, argon arc welding for aluminum alloy parts) or plate reinforcement (3mm steel plate secured with M6 screws) should be employed. The repair costs for these two methods typically range between 800 and 2500 Malaysian Ringgit. Special attention should be paid to automatic transmission cases, which require a 24-hour pressure test (approximately 3.5 bar) after adhesive repair to verify sealing performance due to their numerous precision oil passages. Regardless of the repair method, transmission oil replacement is recommended post-repair (DCT models require approximately 6 to 8 litres, costing 180 to 400 Malaysian Ringgit) followed by a 50km road test. For vehicles over 3 years old or with mileage exceeding 100,000 km, assembly replacement (4000 to 8000 Malaysian Ringgit for used units, 12,000 to 30,000 Malaysian Ringgit for new OEM units) is generally the more prudent option when crack length exceeds 1/3 of the case circumference.
