Automotive transmissions are mainly divided into seven types, each with unique working principles and applicable scenarios. Automatic Transmission (AT) employs planetary gears and a torque converter, offering smooth gear shifting and mature technology, making it suitable for urban driving, yet it has higher fuel consumption and a complex structure. Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) achieves stepless speed variation via cone pulleys and a steel belt, boasting excellent fuel economy and seamless shifting, but its torque-bearing capacity is limited. Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) is equipped with two sets of clutches, enabling rapid gear shifting and high transmission efficiency, though it may exhibit shift shock at low speeds. Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) incorporates an electronic control system into the manual transmission structure, with lower cost but compromised shift smoothness. Sequential Transmission (such as ISR) utilizes straight-cut gears and a shift drum design, allowing direct and swift gear changes, and is commonly found in high-performance models. When selecting, factors such as driving habits, budget, and vehicle positioning should be comprehensively considered; for instance, CVT is suitable for family cars prioritizing comfort, while DCT better aligns with performance-oriented models.
