In the Malaysian automotive market, the Perodua Myvi is known as a "crowd killer" due to its exceptional popularity and versatility. Its success stems from a compact body (3,690mm length), fuel-efficient 1.3L/1.5L engines (combined consumption of 5.6L/100km), and an accessible starting price of around RM45,000. While the similarly positioned Proton Saga (with a 1.3L CamPro engine starting at RM34,800) shares national car attributes, the Myvi's modular design offers superior spatial flexibility (with fully foldable rear seats), making it versatile for taxi and delivery services. Government policies further bolster such models' success, including a 5% GST exemption for sub-1.5L vehicles and maintenance cost advantages from over 80% local content. Although emerging EVs like the BYD Atto 3 (420km NEDC range) present new competition, conventional fuel vehicles remain dominant in the near term.
