The most critical step in engine maintenance is the regular replacement of engine oil and oil filters. As the "blood" of the engine, engine oil performs four major functions: lubrication, cooling, cleaning, and sealing. Mineral oil is recommended to be changed every 5,000 kilometres or 6 months, semi-synthetic oil every 7,500 kilometres or 8 months, and fully synthetic oil can last up to 10,000 kilometres or 1 year. The air filter needs to be replaced every 10,000 to 20,000 kilometres to prevent dust from entering the cylinders and causing abnormal wear. Spark plugs should be replaced based on their materials: conventional ones every 20,000 to 30,000 kilometres, platinum ones every 40,000 to 60,000 kilometres, and iridium ones every 60,000 to 100,000 kilometres to maintain ignition efficiency. Coolant should be renewed every 2 to 3 years or 40,000 to 60,000 kilometres to prevent the engine from overheating or freezing. The drive belt needs to be inspected for aging every 60,000 to 80,000 kilometres. It is particularly important to note that tropical climates accelerate oil oxidation and belt aging, so It is best to shorten the maintenance cycle by 20%. These measures can extend the engine's service life and maintain optimal performance.
