Currently, the latest braking technology mainly focuses on the popularization and optimization of the Electro-Mechanical Braking (EMB) system. This technology completely eliminates the traditional hydraulic system and directly drives the brake calipers through electric motors, shortening the braking response time to less than 100 milliseconds, which is more than twice as fast as traditional hydraulic braking. At the same time, the braking force precision is improved to 0.1 MPa, supporting independent control of all four wheels and significantly enhancing handling stability. Starting in 2026, the new national standard GB21670-2025 will mandate that new vehicles be equipped with ABS anti-lock braking systems and regulate the kinetic energy recovery mechanism for new energy vehicles-requiring brake lights to automatically activate when deceleration exceeds 1.3 m/s² to prevent misjudgment by trailing vehicles. Although the initial cost of EMB systems is high (approximately 3,488 Malaysian Ringgit per unit), they are becoming a mainstream trend due to their lightweight design (10 kg weight reduction), maintenance-free operation (no hydraulic fluid required), and seamless integration with autonomous driving systems (meeting L4 requirements). Local automakers like Proton have begun testing EMB-integrated models, with prices expected to reach parity with Electro-Hydraulic Braking (EHB) systems by 2027, enabling consumers to enjoy safer braking without additional cost.
