Geely Achieves Major ESG Milestones in 2025 – Carbon Reduction Targets Exceeded and NEV Sales Soar

Amid the global automotive industry's rapid shift toward electrification and intelligence, Geely Auto — Proton's key strategic technology partner — has delivered an outstanding performance. The company has officially released its 2025 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report, highlighting significant progress in carbon reduction, New Energy Vehicle (NEV) transformation, and safety innovation.

Carbon Reduction Targets Surpassed

Geely announced that its life-cycle carbon emissions per vehicle in 2025 decreased by 25.5% compared to 2020, successfully exceeding its original 25% reduction target. This is a remarkable achievement for a manufacturer producing millions of vehicles annually.

Through the establishment of "Zero-Carbon Factories" and a low-carbon supply chain, 17 of Geely's manufacturing bases now operate on 100% renewable electricity, setting a world-class benchmark in green manufacturing and operational efficiency.

NEV Sales Double as "Full-Domain AI" Strategy Bears Fruit

2025 marked the successful conclusion of Geely's "Smart Geely 2025" strategy. The company achieved record-breaking results:

• Total Annual Sales: Over 3.02 million units, a new all-time high.
• NEV Sales: Reached 1.688 million units, surging 90% year-on-year.

On the technology front, Geely became the world's first automaker to complete a comprehensive "Full-Domain AI" layout. Key breakthroughs include the NordThor AI Hybrid 2.0 system, the Geely Xingrui Computing Center 2.0, and the advanced Flyme Auto 2 cockpit system. These developments signal that future Proton models built on Geely platforms will benefit from smarter systems and more efficient powertrains.

Safety Benchmark: Strong ASEAN NCAP Performance

Safety remains a top priority for Malaysian consumers. Geely's 2025 ESG Report highlights its global safety achievements:

• 11 models earned 5-star C-NCAP ratings.
• 8 models received 5-star Euro NCAP ratings.
• 8 models achieved 5-star ASEAN NCAP ratings.

Notably, models such as the Geely EX5 (Galaxy E5), which is earmarked for global expansion, meet the highest international safety standards. This "safety without borders" approach continues to strengthen Proton's competitiveness in the Malaysian market.

Circular Economy & Sustainable Practices

Geely is taking a holistic approach to the entire vehicle lifecycle. In 2025, the company processed nearly 6,000 end-of-life vehicles and supplied over 60,000 remanufactured parts to its aftersales network.

In the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2026, Geely ranked 5th globally in the automotive industry — the only Chinese automaker to make the list.
