BYD's best-selling pure electric model, the Yuan PLUS (Atto 3), is set for a major update. According to official announcements, the third-generation Yuan PLUS will make its debut in China on May 21. The new model brings significant improvements in range and introduces LiDAR for the first time.

The third-generation model retains the signature Dragon Face 3.0 design language but adopts a flatter, more futuristic appearance. The front features integrated silver trim that widens the visual stance, while the most notable addition is the new LiDAR mounted on the roof. This enables BYD's advanced "God's Eye" intelligent driving system, supporting higher-level driver assistance functions.
From the side, the car maintains its sleek, floating roofline. Its dimensions have grown to 4,665 mm (L) × 1,895 mm (W) × 1,675 mm (H), with a 2,770 mm wheelbase — noticeably longer than the current Atto 3 in Malaysia.

The cabin follows BYD's minimalist design philosophy with a digital instrument cluster and a large floating infotainment screen. New comfort-focused features include:

The new model offers two power outputs and is equipped with the second-generation Blade Battery:
The car also supports BYD Flash Charging technology for significantly faster charging times.

The current Atto 3 is already one of the top-selling EVs in Malaysia thanks to its balanced specifications and strong value. With the third-generation model launching soon in China, it is expected to arrive in Malaysia as a CBU unit by the end of this year or early 2027 at the latest.
For Malaysian buyers, the upgraded 630 km range and more powerful 240 kW motor could make the new Yuan PLUS a serious threat to rivals like the smart #1 and Tesla Model Y in the same price segment.
