As the world's best-selling family car series, the Toyota Corolla has achieved cumulative global sales of over 57 million units since its debut in 1966. To mark this extraordinary milestone, Toyota Japan has officially launched the 60th Anniversary Editions of the Corolla Active Sport and Corolla Touring Active Sport.

These special editions feature several commemorative elements to celebrate the model's six decades of success:

Toyota has given each variant its own unique character:

Both Active Sport models (2WD only) come with specially tuned suspension for sharper handling.
Regarding the powertrain, the special editions are powered by Toyota's reliable 1.8L Series-Parallel Hybrid system (2ZR-FXE engine), available in both 2WD (FF) and E-Four all-wheel-drive configurations.

Toyota has also updated its driving school fleet with a new Corolla-based model. In addition to the existing 1.5L petrol engine with 6-speed manual transmission, a 1.8L hybrid version with e-CVT is now available to support carbon neutrality goals.

While these are Japan Domestic Market (JDM) specifications, the exclusive body kits and 60th Anniversary details could serve as strong inspiration for local modification enthusiasts. They may also hint at future special edition configurations for Southeast Asia.
For 60 years, the Corolla has thrived on its core values of high quality, affordability, versatility, and added value. From mid-2026 onwards, Toyota will also release 60th Anniversary editions of the Corolla Sport (hatchback) and Corolla Cross. The legend continues.
