UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT), Malaysia's leading non-national automaker, has released its sales scorecard for April 2026. The brand delivered a total of 6,464 units last month — marking its highest single-month sales of the year so far and pushing its year-to-date (YTD) total to 21,924 units.
Compared to the full-year sales of 102,417 units in 2025, UMWT has already achieved approximately 21% of last year's total volume.

Although April sales were lower year-on-year than the 7,932 units recorded in April 2025 — largely due to cautious consumer sentiment and recent policy adjustments — Toyota has shown healthy month-on-month growth:

While official sales figures do not provide a detailed model breakdown, the latest vehicle registration data from the Road Transport Department (JPJ) offers a clearer picture. In April, a total of 9,055 new Toyota vehicles were registered nationwide.
The difference of 2,591 units between official sales and registrations highlights the significant role of the parallel import (recon) market in Malaysia. It is evident that demand for Toyota vehicles through unofficial channels remains very strong.
According to JPJ data, the top-performing Toyota models in April were:

UMW Toyota President Datuk Ravindran K emphasised that the brand remains committed to its "Multi-Pathway" strategy — offering Internal Combustion Engine (ICE), Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) options to suit different customer needs and infrastructure readiness in Malaysia.
In April, Toyota made headlines by launching three pure electric models on the same day: the bZ4X, Urban Cruiser EV, and Hilux EV. This was followed by the official launch of the highly anticipated Toyota Yaris Cross in May, available in both petrol and hybrid variants. Combined with other recent additions such as the Vellfire HEV, GR Corolla AT, and the Vios Hybrid, Toyota's Malaysian lineup has never been stronger.

To boost momentum in the second quarter, UMW Toyota has launched attractive May promotions, with monthly installments starting from as low as RM746 for selected models.
Additionally, the brand is running a campaign for the Toyota MY App (until June). New users who sign up will instantly receive 500 Loyal-T points, and booking a service at any authorised centre via the app earns another 500 points. These points can be redeemed for service vouchers — a great perk for Toyota owners.
