In Malaysia, luxury MPVs have long been the preferred choice for family road trips and corporate VIP transport. Following the earlier unveiling of the exterior design of Leapmotor's new flagship MPV — the Leapmotor D99 — the brand officially released interior images on 15 May, offering a first glimpse into its cabin innovations.
Positioned as the centerpiece of Leapmotor's 10th-anniversary celebrations, the D99 aims to redefine the concept of a "land private jet". It debuts the industry's first integrated cockpit-driving central domain control system and offers unprecedented versatility in cabin configurations. Tailored for both business executives and families, this tech-luxury MPV is expected to hit the market in mid-2026. Local car enthusiasts should keep this model on their radar.

Step inside, and the Leapmotor D99 presents a sophisticated, minimalist design language. The dashboard features distinct layering, housing a digital instrument cluster, a floating 17.3-inch infotainment screen, and a futuristic 60-inch AR-HUD (Augmented Reality Head-Up Display).
However, the visual appeal is just the beginning. The D99 pushes hardware boundaries with significant technological upgrades:

For MPV buyers, cabin flexibility is paramount. With a length exceeding 5.2 meters and a wheelbase of 3.1 meters, the Leapmotor D99 offers dimensions comparable to a "mobile mini-villa".
Upholstered in premium Semi-Aniline genuine leather, the seats are designed for maximum adaptability, featuring multiple flat-bed modes:
Additionally, the second row features swivel-reversible zero-gravity aviation seats complete with an 8-litre onboard refrigerator. These seats can rotate 90 degrees to face the window for sightseeing or 180 degrees to face the third row. Combined with a built-in foldable table, the setup is perfect for family board games, enjoying Nasi Lemak on the go, or hosting mobile business meetings.

Recapping the exterior, the Leapmotor D99 boasts a highly aerodynamic, rounded silhouette reminiscent of a bullet train, which effectively reduces wind drag. The front end adopts the "Universe Realm" family design language, paired with million-pixel DLP projection headlights. The side profile is sleek, featuring hidden sliding door tracks and distinctive large-dish chrome alloy wheels.

Under the skin, the Leapmotor D99 does not compromise on performance or comfort. It comes equipped with dual-chamber closed air suspension and CDC variable damping shock absorbers to ensure a plush ride. Buyers can choose between two advanced powertrain options:
1. Range Extender (EREV): Built on an 800V high-voltage platform, this system features the industry's first dual-motor four-wheel-drive range-extended setup. It pairs a 1.5T range extender with an 80.3 kWh battery pack, offering an exceptional pure electric range to eliminate range anxiety.
2. Pure Electric (BEV): Utilizing a top-tier full-stack 1000V architecture, this variant debuts CATL's 115 kWh Super Hybrid Battery Cells, delivering industry-leading charging speeds and driving range.
Whether it's intelligent computing power, interior modularity, or EV battery technology, the Leapmotor D99 demonstrates formidable strength, positioning itself to challenge the RMB 300,000 MPV segment (estimated at RM180k to RM 200k, excluding local taxes and duties).
With Leapmotor aggressively expanding its overseas presence backed by the Stellantis Group, the question remains: Will this "all-rounder" flagship MPV make its way to Malaysia to go head-to-head with the Toyota Alphard and other upcoming Chinese luxury EVs?
