Zeekr, the premium electric vehicle (EV) brand under Geely, has announced the 2026 model year Zeekr X will go on sale in Europe this May. The updated compact EV SUV gets significant upgrades, and there are strong hints it could be heading to Malaysia later this year – good news for local EV enthusiasts who have been eyeing the model since its local launch in late 2024.

First, a quick recap for Malaysian readers: The Zeekr X officially landed in Malaysia in December 2024, offered in two variants – Premium RWD and Flagship AWD – with a launch price range of RM156,000 to RM173,000. It’s a compact premium EV crossover, designed to compete with other luxury compact EVs in the local market, blending sleek design, performance and practicality for urban and suburban driving.

The 2026 updated Zeekr X for Europe comes with Zeekr’s new Golden Battery technology, a key upgrade that boosts fast charging capabilities. The Long Range RWD variant supports up to 230 kW DC charging, allowing it to charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes – a game-changer for EV users tired of long charging waits.
Performance has also been ramped up: the Long Range RWD variant now delivers 250 kW (340 PS), while the Privilege AWD dual-motor variant pushes out 365 kW (496 PS) and 573 Nm of torque – perfect for drivers who want a zippy, responsive ride.

Two battery options are available: a 61 kWh Energee battery (by Geely) and a 66 kWh ternary lithium battery (by CATL). For Malaysian drivers, the WLTP range estimates are more relevant – approximately 420 km for the 61 kWh battery and 434 km for the 66 kWh version, which is sufficient for daily commutes and weekend getaways across Peninsular Malaysia.

Inside, the updated Zeekr X gets a user-friendly upgrade: a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen mounted on a 353 mm electric sliding rail, which can be moved from the centre to the passenger side. Other convenient cabin features include a 50-watt wireless charging pad, a password-protected glovebox, a 6.6-litre storage compartment, dual front cupholders, and a 5.7-litre centre console with cooling (-6°C to 20°C) and heating (35°C to 50°C) functions – ideal for Malaysia’s hot climate.

So, will the 2026 updated Zeekr X come to Malaysia? Zeekr Malaysia recently teased an “updated compact premium SUV refresh”, which is widely believed to refer to this new model. The brand has also confirmed three new models will launch in Malaysia this year, including the 9X PHEV flagship and the 009 Grand Collector’s Edition – the third is likely the updated Zeekr X.

For local buyers, the updated Zeekr X could bring better charging speed, more power and new interior features, though it remains to be seen if the price will change from the current RM156k-RM173k range. We’ll keep you updated as soon as Zeekr Malaysia announces official details.
