OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia has officially announced the launch of its flagship electrified model, the 2026 Omoda C9 PHEV, in the Malaysian market, with an official retail price of RM 208,800 (OTR without insurance). The new vehicle is locally assembled (CKD) in Shah Alam.
As the brand’s most powerful model to date, this Coupe SUV breaks away from the one-dimensional positioning of traditional PHEV models that “only focus on fuel efficiency”. With its high-performance hybrid architecture, premium segment-beating specifications, and well-rounded practicality, it redefines the product standard for plug-in hybrid SUVs in the local RM200k price bracket and overturns the market’s stereotypical perception of PHEVs.

The Omoda C9 PHEV is equipped with the brand’s proprietary Super Hybrid System (SHS). The powertrain features a 1.5L turbocharged engine paired with a three-motor layout: dual motors on the front axle and an independent single motor on the rear axle, forming an electronically controlled intelligent all-wheel-drive system. It is matched with an exclusive 3-speed hybrid DHT gearbox, achieving a perfect balance between power output and energy efficiency.
The system delivers a combined maximum power output of 537 PS and a peak torque of 650 Nm, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. Its performance not only leads the segment among mainstream family PHEV SUVs but also rivals premium high-performance SUVs, completely reversing the market impression that “PHEVs lack power”.

Beyond its high-performance credentials, the new model retains the core energy-saving advantage of PHEVs, boasting a combined NEDC fuel consumption of just 1.4L/100km, striking an ideal balance between performance and fuel economy. At its core lies a 34.46 kWh LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery, delivering a maximum NEDC pure electric range of 169 km – sufficient to cover the daily commute and short-distance travel needs of most Malaysian drivers. Pure electric mode can be used for all urban trips, enabling zero-fuel consumption driving.
With a full tank of fuel and a full charge, the combined range exceeds 1,100 km, eliminating the need for frequent refuelling or recharging on inter-state long journeys and fully erasing range anxiety.
The charging setup is tailored to local usage scenarios: it supports 70 kW DC fast charging, taking just 25 minutes to charge the battery from 30% to 80% for efficient top-ups; for 6.6 kW AC home charging, a full charge takes approximately 5.5 hours, aligning with the common practice of overnight home charging.
The chassis features a MacPherson strut front suspension and multi-link independent rear suspension setup, fitted as standard with a CDC (Continuous Damping Control) adaptive suspension system. The suspension adjusts damping up to 100 times per second, offering four adjustable modes: Soft, Medium, Hard, and Auto. This allows seamless switching between comfortable daily cruising and sporty handling, catering to both family comfort and driving engagement.
The interior focuses on light-luxury texture and a high-tech ambience, equipped with standard dual 12.3-inch integrated central control screens, a 14-speaker Sony premium audio system, HUD head-up display, and a panoramic sunroof – all segment-beating specifications.
For comfort, both front and rear seats come with heating and ventilation functions. Paired with an in-car fragrance system, “Hello OMODA” intelligent voice control, and Android Auto smartphone connectivity, it delivers a complete and premium cabin experience that meets local consumers’ demand for both family practicality and luxury.

In terms of safety, the new model is equipped with a Level 2.5 ADAS advanced driver assistance system, covering a full suite of features including adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking, and blind spot monitoring. Combined with a 540-degree panoramic imaging system, it enhances all-round safety for driving and parking.
The body structure is constructed with 85% high-strength steel, offering exceptional structural rigidity and earning a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating for robust passive safety performance.
The brand offers a highly competitive warranty package: a 7-year or 200,000 km warranty for the entire vehicle; a 10-year or 200,000 km warranty for core hybrid components including the battery and electric motors; and an extended 10-year or 1,000,000 km warranty for the engine. This fully addresses consumer concerns over the durability and long-term maintenance of PHEV models, making it highly competitive in the local new energy vehicle market.
In the RM200k SUV segment, the Omoda C9 PHEV carves out a differentiated product path with its core strengths: high-performance hybrid, efficient electrification, segment-beating specifications, and local CKD assembly. It is not a traditional fuel-efficient family PHEV, but a versatile model that blends high-performance SUV, pure electric commuting, and luxury cabin features.
It offers Malaysian consumers a brand-new choice for electrified high-performance vehicles, while further expanding OMODA’s local product lineup in Malaysia.
