Fuel prices for April 9-15: Petrol up 40 sen, diesel jumps 70 sen

RON 95 (BUDI95 Subsidy): RM1.99 per litre (unchanged)

RON 97: RM5.35 per litre (+40 sen) 

Diesel

Peninsular Malaysia: * B10 / B20: RM6.72 per litre (+70 sen) 

Euro 5 B7: RM6.92 per litre (+70 sen)

East Malaysia (Sabah, Sarawak & Labuan): RM2.15 per litre (unchanged)

Important Note: The monthly BUDI95 subsidy quota has been temporarily reduced to 200 litres per eligible citizen, effective from April 2026.

Resilience Under Subsidy Mechanisms 

This week's fuel price hike is notably substantial, particularly for retail diesel in Peninsular Malaysia, which is now approaching the RM7 per litre mark. According to the government, the surge in Brent crude oil prices above US$100 per barrel has pushed monthly fuel subsidy expenditure to approximately RM4 billion.

To ease the burden on consumers, the government has chosen to maintain the subsidised RON95 price under the Budi Madani (BUDI95) scheme at RM1.99 per litre. Although the monthly quota has been reduced to 200 litres, official data indicates that this allocation still meets the daily commuting needs of around 90% of eligible users.

Meanwhile, the Budi Madani diesel cash assistance for April will continue as planned. Eligible private diesel vehicle owners will receive RM300 in subsidy. Owners are encouraged to check their application status through official channels.

The new fuel prices take effect from midnight (12:00 AM) on April 9, 2026.
