Following the global reveal of the Neue Klasse concept, its most anticipated production model — the all-new BMW iX3 (codenamed NA5) — has finally been unveiled. Recently, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released official regulatory filings for the BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase (LWB) version. This electric SUV, specifically optimized for enhanced rear passenger space, has been officially confirmed for the Malaysian market.

Space Upgrade: Breaking the 3-Metre Mark

According to the filings, the iX3 LWB measures 4,885 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height. The highlight is its wheelbase, which has been extended by 108 mm to an impressive 3,005 mm. This additional length is dedicated entirely to the second row, delivering more knee room and rear passenger space that surpasses most of its rivals. Designed with Malaysian "bosses" and families in mind, the iX3 LWB offers class-leading rear-seat comfort, making it an ideal choice for those who prioritize spaciousness and luxury in the back.

Design: Digital Angel Wings

The production model closely follows the design language of the Vision Neue Klasse X concept.

3D Iconic Glow Grille: Replacing the traditional grille is a striking "Digital Angel Wings" design, which creates a dynamic and highly recognizable light signature at the front.

Hofmeister Kink Evolution: BMW's iconic Hofmeister Kink has been elegantly reinterpreted with ultra-thin titanium oxide strips, producing a sophisticated "reflective outside, transparent inside" light effect.

L-Signature Taillights: The L-shaped 3D dynamic taillights visually widen the car and delivering a modern, high-tech appearance.

Power & Charging: 800V Architecture + 900km Range

This is more than a simple facelift. It represents a technological leap forward. The next-generation iX3 is powered by the latest 6th-generation BMW eDrive technology.

Platform: Industry-leading 800V high-voltage system

Battery: Equipped with new-generation cylindrical battery cells, the iX3 LWB delivers a CLTC range of over 900 km.

Charging Speed: The system supports ultra-fast DC charging of up to 400 kW. A 10-minute charge can add approximately 400 km of range, effectively eliminating range anxiety for Malaysian drivers.

Performance: The model is equipped with a dual-motor setup, featuring a 116 kW motor at the front and a more powerful 235 kW motor at the rear.

Malaysia Market Outlook

Although the LWB variant was originally developed for the Chinese market, BMW has confirmed that Malaysia will be among the first international markets outside China to receive this new model, alongside Thailand and India.

The car is expected to make its global debut at the Beijing Auto Show this month. For Malaysian consumers, it represents more than just another step in BMW's electrification journey — it is a well-rounded "complete package" that addresses the rear-seat space limitations of the current model.
