[Auto China 2026] Mercedes-Benz Reveals Stunning Lineup: All-Electric GLC World Premiere, New S-Class Takes a Giant Leap in Tech!

As the 2026 (19th) Beijing International Automotive Exhibition (Auto China) prepares to kick off, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a star-studded lineup that has global car enthusiasts buzzing. The focal points of this year’s show are undoubtedly the world premiere of the all-electric GLC SUV and the deeply refreshed flagship sedan — the new S-Class.

The All-New Electric GLC SUV: 800V Architecture & 6-Seater Innovation

The GLC series has long been one of Mercedes-Benz's best-selling models globally, including in Malaysia. As the brand accelerates toward full electrification, the arrival of the electric GLC marks the dawn of a new era.

MB.EA Platform Foundation: Unlike previous "ICE-to-EV" conversions, the electric GLC is built on the dedicated MB.EA platform. This allows for a more efficient battery layout and a significantly more spacious cabin.

First-Ever 6-Seater Layout: To meet diverse family needs, the new model offers a long-wheelbase version for specific markets, featuring a 6-seater configuration for the first time. This is a major highlight for Malaysian families seeking luxury combined with high passenger capacity.

Charging Performance: Thanks to the 800V high-voltage architecture and silicon carbide inverters, charging efficiency is greatly improved. The dual-motor version is reported to deliver a maximum output of 300kW (approx. 408PS).

Design Aesthetics: The exterior features an illuminated grille and "Three-Pointed Star" motifs embedded in the front and rear light clusters. The sleek silhouette is complemented by flush door handles to reduce drag.

New S-Class: A "Masterclass" Evolution of the Flagship King

As the benchmark for luxury sedans, the S-Class (W223 Facelift) has exceeded expectations with this update, redefining the "Executive Ride" through both design and AI technology.

Stunning Visuals: The front fascia features a 20% larger illuminated grille and the first-ever application of an illuminated standing star. The new "Double Star" headlights pair perfectly with the triple-star taillights for maximum presence.

MB.OS & MBUX Hyperscreen: The interior's biggest change is the MBUX Hyperscreen, merging a 14.4-inch center display and a 12.3-inch passenger display into one glass panel. Powered by the in-house MB.OS architecture, it features an AI-enhanced virtual assistant and a "Privacy Mode" to prevent driver distraction.

First-Class Rear Experience: The rear cabin boasts dual 13.1-inch HD screens and seats with up to 43.5 degrees of recline. The Burmester® High-End 4D Surround Sound System features 39 speakers and 1,690W of power, including seat exciters for a concert-hall experience.

Performance Upgrades: The M256 Evo inline-six engine has been tuned to produce 600Nm of torque, while the M177 Evo V8 now pushes 537PS. Both powertrains feature 48V mild-hybrid tech and AIRMATIC air suspension.

Malaysia Market Outlook: When Will We See Them?

For Malaysian readers, the road ahead for these two models is highly anticipated:

Launch Timeline: Following Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s (MBM) typical cadence, the new S-Class is expected to arrive as a CKD (locally assembled) model within 12 months of its global debut.

The Potential of Electric GLC: With ongoing government tax incentives for EVs, the electric GLC is poised to be a heavy hitter. Its 800V architecture will perfectly complement Malaysia’s rapidly expanding ultra-fast charging network.

KLIMS 2026 Preview: With KLIMS 2026 happening this June, it’s possible MBM might drop hints or provide a sneak preview of the electric GLC’s local arrival.

Conclusion:

With its showcase at Auto China 2026, Mercedes-Benz has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to both electrification and digital transformation. Whether it is the highly practical 6-seater all-electric GLC or the smarter, more tech-forward S-Class, the brand has accurately addressed the evolving needs of modern premium car buyers. For the Malaysian market, these models represent more than just new tech—they signal a future where luxury and sustainability go hand-in-hand.
