Deepal Officially Enters the Philippines with S05 and G318 – A Preview of What's Coming to Malaysia?

As Chinese New Energy Vehicle (NEV) brands continue to accelerate their expansion across Southeast Asia, Changan's Deepal brand has officially entered the Philippine market. The brand debut introduces two key models: the compact SUV Deepal S05, targeted at younger buyers, and the "tech-hardcore" SUV Deepal G318. Together, they offer Filipino consumers a diverse range of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) and Range Extended Electric Vehicles (REEV).

The Sales Powerhouse: Deepal S05 (BEV/REEV)

The Deepal S05 is currently the main driver of the brand's global growth. According to March 2026 data, Deepal recorded 31,700 global deliveries, with the S05 alone accounting for 17,500 units — representing over 55% of total sales.

Specs & Range: With a class-leading wheelbase of 2,880 mm, the S05 delivers exceptional interior space for its segment. The Philippine BEV variant offers a WLTP range of 458 km. The REEV version provides an impressive combined range of over 1,200 km.

Local Pricing: The BEV is priced at 1.588 million PHP (approx. RM120,400), while the REEV is at 1.688 million PHP (approx. RM128,000).

The Tech-Hardcore Explorer: Deepal G318 (REEV)

As Deepal's first hardcore off-road SUV, the G318 is priced at 2.6 million PHP (approximately RM197,100) in the Philippines.

Key Highlights: Dual-motor AWD system with a combined range exceeding 1,000 km, air suspension, differential locks, and 16 driving modes, successfully blending rugged off-road capability with smart daily commuting.

The S05's pricing in the Philippines (approximately RM120,000) is highly aggressive and competitive. For the Malaysian market, if the Deepal S05 is launched within 2026, it is likely to be positioned between RM130,000 and RM150,000. At this price point, it would emerge as a strong and formidable rival to the BYD Atto 3. While REEV technology is gaining popularity across the region, Malaysia's current tax incentives favoring BEVs suggest that the pure electric version of the S05 could be the more strategic choice for local introduction.
