While the current EQS is already a familiar sight on Malaysian roads, Mercedes-Benz has delivered a clear response to previous criticisms regarding range and electrical architecture. The official reveal of the 2027 Mercedes-Benz EQS not only introduces the much-anticipated "standing star" front design but also brings a major technical upgrade — a full transition from the previous 400V to an advanced 800V electrical architecture.

This facelift goes beyond cosmetic changes. Over 25% of the vehicle's components have been re-engineered or significantly optimised.
800V Architecture: The new EQS supports up to 350 kW DC fast charging. Under ideal conditions, just 10 minutes of charging can add approximately 320 km of range, effectively eliminating range anxiety on long-distance trips.
Larger Battery: The battery capacity has been increased from 118 kWh to 122 kWh.
Extraordinary Range: Even the entry-level EQS 450+ now delivers an impressive WLTP range of up to 575 miles (approximately 925 km). This means a round trip from Kuala Lumpur to Penang could potentially be completed without a single mid-journey charge.
To address previous criticisms that the EQ series resembled a "computer mouse", the 2027 EQS features significant front-end redesigns that pay homage to Mercedes-Benz's iconic design heritage.
The Return of the "Standing Star": The classic Mercedes three-pointed star hood ornament makes a triumphant return, proudly positioned on the hood.
Grille Evolution: A new black enclosed grille with wide chrome strips has been adopted, delivering a stronger sense of prestige and the commanding presence associated with the petrol-powered S-Class.

Inside the cabin, the iconic MBUX Hyperscreen remains standard, but the technological highlights have been elevated even further.
Steer-by-Wire: Steer-by-wire technology is now offered as an option. It can even be paired with a futuristic yoke-style steering wheel, delivering a more advanced and immersive driving experience.
Luxury Details: New comfort features include heated seat belts and an enhanced rear-seat experience.

The 2027 Mercedes-Benz EQS will be available in three variants: EQS 450+, EQS 500 4MATIC, and the top-spec EQS 580 4MATIC. The 500 model is expected to replace the current 450+ 4MATIC.
