BYD's high-end sub-brand, Fang Cheng Bao, is finally venturing into the sedan market. The brand has officially confirmed that its first-ever sedan — internally codenamed Bao 7 — will make its global debut at the upcoming Beijing Auto Show.

Following the strong success of the Bao 5 and Bao 8 SUVs, the Bao 7 moves away from the "boxy" off-road styling. Instead, it adopts a sleek, high-performance EV sedan silhouette, marking a new direction for the premium sub-brand.

Design: Elegance Meets Power

Based on the latest teaser images and spy shots, the Bao 7 adopts a sleek fastback design with a low-slung stance that creates a strong, grounded visual presence. The prominent character lines on the hood give the car a muscular and athletic appearance. At the rear, a subtle ducktail spoiler and elegantly curved taillights complete the look, perfectly aligning with the aesthetic preferences of modern performance sedan enthusiasts.

Technology: Advanced ADAS + LiDAR

A standout feature is the roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, indicating that the Bao 7 will be equipped with BYD's advanced intelligent driving assistance system. As the "smart driving" race intensifies, this new model is expected to deliver top-tier autonomous capabilities, supported by multiple cameras positioned around the vehicle.

Performance: Tri-Motor & DiSus-M Technology

The powertrain is the real showstopper. Preliminary information suggests the Bao 7 will feature:

Tri-Motor Drive System: Peak output is expected to reach nearly 1,000 hp — delivering supercar-level performance.

Chassis Tech: Equipped with the DiSus-M Intelligent Magnetic Ride Control System, which enables millisecond-level suspension adjustments for an optimal balance between sharp handling and ride comfort.

Conclusion

The arrival of Fang Cheng Bao's first sedan clearly demonstrates BYD's ambition to dominate the high-performance electric vehicle segment. While the brand has yet to be officially introduced in Malaysia, this new model represents the pinnacle of the group's current technological capabilities. With the Atto 3, Dolphin, and Seal already enjoying strong success in Malaysia, the question remains: Could this sleek high-performance sedan become a serious rival to the Tesla Model S or Porsche Taycan?
