Geely Group Reports Strong Q1 2026 Sales with 937,927 Units Sold Globally as Proton Achieves 22-Year High

Geely Holding Group has officially released its sales performance for the first quarter of 2026. Driven by rapid growth in New Energy Vehicles (NEV) and strong international expansion, the group delivered a total of 937,927 vehicles in the first three months of the year. Notably, NEV sales reached 491,006 units, accounting for a significant 52.4% of total sales and pushing the group's NEV penetration rate to a new high.

Proton's Historic Performance 

For the Malaysian market, the spotlight remains on Proton. Backed by Geely's technological expertise, the national carmaker delivered 49,140 units in Q1 2026 — a 40.1% year-on-year increase. This represents Proton's strongest first-quarter performance since 2004.

The brand is estimated to have captured approximately 27.4% of the Total Industry Volume (TIV), its highest market share since 2017.

Proton e.MAS 5: Continues to dominate as Malaysia's best-selling EV, with 6,701 units sold in Q1.

Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV: Showing strong momentum in its first full month of sales following the February launch.

The Pillars: The Saga remains the "People's Car", recording 21,770 units sold — a solid 38% increase year-on-year. The X50 leads the B-segment SUV category with 7,571 units delivered.

Geely Auto: Export Volume Doubles 

The core Geely Auto division sold 709,358 units in Q1 2026. A standout highlight was the explosive growth in international markets, where export volume reached 203,024 units — a staggering 126% increase year-on-year.

Zeekr: 77,037 units (Up 86%)

Lynk & Co: 81,662 units (Up 12%)

Volvo Cars: 153,316 units (47.3% NEV penetration) 

Proton: 49,140 units (Best Q1 in 22 years)
