On April 17, Mercedes-Benz officially pulled the wraps off the highly anticipated Long-Wheelbase All-Electric GLC SUV (expected codename: GLC EV). This new model represents a major milestone in the brand's electrification journey, featuring significant "localized" enhancements for its global debut at the upcoming Beijing Auto Show.
For the Malaysian market, this debut is crucial point of reference, as it likely previews the long-wheelbase configuration and equipment levels for a future local introduction.

The new model adopts the latest Mercedes-Benz EV design language, with the illuminated grille serving as the centerpiece. Official data reveals 942 polycarbonate backlight elements within the grille, creating a sequential welcome animation as you approach.
The headlights retain the iconic "Three-Pointed Star" signature, paired with a full-width light bar for instant road presence. Thanks to the extended wheelbase, the side profile appears elongated and stately, further streamlined by aerodynamically optimized flush door handles.

For a long-wheelbase model, size is a major highlight. With a 3,027mm wheelbase and a total length of 4,933mm, the GLC EV actually overshadows the current ICE-powered long-wheelbase GLC in sheer footprint.
128L Frunk: Benefitting from a dedicated EV platform, the car features a 128-litre front trunk, providing the perfect storage solution for charging cables or weekend carry-ons.

Inside, a massive Hyperscreen spans the entire dashboard, utilizing 1,000 independent LED dimming zones for ultra-fine contrast and clarity.
Smart Interaction: Powering the cabin is the "Xiao Ben" virtual assistant, now integrated with the "Doubao" Large Language Model. It supports immersive 3D graphics and advanced voice commands, including multiple dialects.
6-Seater Layout: For the first time in the GLC class, Mercedes-Benz Mercedes-Benz introduces a 2+2+2 six-seater configuration. The second row features independent captain's chairs that support ventilation and heating — a perfect luxury for the Malaysian climate.
Premium Amenities: The sensory experience is rounded out by a 19-speaker Burmester® surround sound system and an expansive "Starry Sky" panoramic canopy.

Moving away from "ICE-to-EV" conversions, this model is built on the cutting-edge MB.EA Electric Platform.
800V High-Voltage Architecture: Supports ultra-fast charging, significantly reducing charging times.
Dual-Motor AWD: Initial filings reveal a high-performance version featuring a 163 kW front and 300 kW rear motor. Together, they deliver a combined output of approximately 630 hp and 800 Nm of torque.
Long-Range Capability: The model is expected to house a 94 kWh battery pack, offering a CLTC driving range of over 700 km.

In Malaysia, the GLC has long been a cornerstone of volume for Mercedes-Benz. With competition intensifying from the BMW iX3 and Audi Q8 e-tron, the new Long-Wheelbase All-Electric GLC is clearly coming in with guns blazing. By offering a 3,027 mm wheelbase and a first-in-class 6-seater option, it targets the premium family segment.
If this model reaches our shores as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit, its combination of 800V ultra-fast charging and that signature Mercedes-Benz cabin luxury could very well redefine the benchmark for premium electric SUVs in Malaysia.
