Ahead of the official opening of the 2026 Beijing Auto Show (Auto China 2026), our team on the ground has captured the first exclusive images of the highly anticipated all-new Lexus ES during a closed-door media preview. As a complete model change, the new ES showcases a revolutionary design language and marks the global premiere of its fully electric (BEV) variants. For our Malaysian readers, this evolution provides a crucial glimpse into the future of the luxury sedan segment.

The all-new ES embraces Lexus' latest "Seamless Spindle" design language, moving away from traditional boundaries toward a more integrated look.
Front Fascia: The iconic spindle motif is now seamlessly integrated into the front bumper. Sharper lines flow from the hood to the lower corners, resulting in a lower, more aggressive stance that commands attention.
Profile & Styling: A distinctive "lightning-bolt" crease defines the lower body, serving as a visual signature of its electrified identity. To optimize aerodynamics, the ES now features flush-actuated door handles and optional aero-efficient alloy wheels.
Dimensions: In a significant move, the new model is 165 mm longer than its predecessor, with the wheelbase extended by 80 mm. This promises class-leading rear legroom, a high-priority feature for the Malaysian executive and chauffeur-driven markets.

The cabin is a manifestation of Lexus's "Time Is Luxury" philosophy, harmonizing traditional Japanese craftsmanship with cutting-edge digital integration.
Digital Cockpit: The dashboard marks a significant departure for the brand, featuring a dual-screen setup (central infotainment plus a dedicated passenger display). In a move toward minimalism, traditional physical buttons has been largely replaced by haptic touch controls and a sleek electronic shift-by-wire selector.
Premium Amenities: The new ES will offer a Mark Levinson premium sound system, HUD (Heads-Up Display), wireless charging, and an upgraded Lexus Safety System+ (LSS+) featuring enhanced Level 2 autonomous capabilities.
Unique Touch: It also introduces the "Bamboo Scent" fragrance system, embodying the spirit of omotenashi (hospitality).

The new ES moves away from pure petrol engines, offering only electrified options.
ES 300h (Hybrid): Powered by a 2.0L engine paired with a high-output motor, delivering a total system output of 145 kW, managed through an E-CVT.
ES 350e / ES 500e (EV): Developed on the GA-K platform. The flagship ES 500e will feature the DIRECT4 intelligent All-Wheel Drive system for enhanced performance and handling.

While the model showcased at Auto China 2026 is tailored for the Chinese market, the all-new ES is a global strategic model, and its arrival in the Southeast Asian markets is not a matter of "if", but "when".
Given Malaysia's active push for EV adoption and the current tax incentives for CBU (and potentially CKD) electric vehicles, the ES 350e/500e could be a strong contender in the local luxury EV segment alongside the proven ES 300h hybrid.
