Proton has officially pulled the wraps off the 2026 Proton S70, confirming the refreshed C-segment sedan will make its much-anticipated official launch in Malaysia on February 11, 2026. Bookings for the updated model opened nationwide on February 7, with interested buyers able to secure a unit with just a RM500 booking fee at all authorised Proton 3S/4S showrooms – and early bookers can even enjoy exclusive Chinese New Year (CNY) and Raya promos.

The biggest highlight of the 2026 S70 is its all-new powertrain: a 1.5-litre turbocharged i-GT four-cylinder engine from Proton’s BHE 15 family, the same unit fitted in the 2025 facelifted Proton X50. This new engine delivers a impressive 181 PS and 290 Nm of torque – a huge jump from the outgoing model’s three-cylinder engine – paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) driving the front wheels. It sprints from 0-100 km/h in just 7.5 seconds (1.5 seconds quicker than before) while maintaining a fuel-efficient 5.7 litres per 100 km, making it perfect for both city commutes and long drives across Peninsular Malaysia.

Visually, the 2026 S70 gets subtle yet sporty tweaks to keep it fresh. Key exterior updates include sleek integrated LED headlights with daytime running lights, newly designed 17-inch alloy wheels, revised front and rear bumpers, and an updated aerokit – all enhancing its athletic stance on local roads. Leaked listings suggest a new blue exterior colour is available, though Proton is yet to confirm full colour options ahead of launch.

Inside, the sedan retains its driver-focused black cabin with refined finishes, while adding a highly requested feature for Malaysian drivers: a 12.3-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Voice interaction is also included, making it easier to control navigation and media while on the move – a handy addition for daily drives in KL, Selangor and other busy urban areas.
Safety remains a top priority for the national carmaker, with the 2026 S70 comes standard with 13 Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) across variants. Key features include Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), and more – a big plus for families and first-time sedan buyers.
While Proton has not yet announced official on-the-road (OTR) pricing, industry insiders and local listings suggest it will stay close to the current range of RM73,800 to RM94,800 (from Executive to Flagship X variants). Early bookers can also enjoy attractive CNY and Raya promos, including cash rebates of up to RM8,000, free aerokit worth RM3,000, and other free gifts – plus fast loan approval (24-48 hours) and delivery in just 3-5 days for qualified buyers.
The 2026 S70 builds on the success of its predecessor, which has sold over 38,000 units in Malaysia to date, appealing to young executives, first-time buyers and small families alike. It will compete head-on with popular rivals like the Honda City and Toyota Vios, offering more power and tech at a competitive price point.
Malaysians can now preview the 2026 Proton S70 at authorised showrooms nationwide, with bookings open to secure priority delivery once the model launches on February 11. For those looking for a sporty, practical and affordable C-segment sedan, the updated S70 – with its new four-cylinder engine and handy tech upgrades – is set to be one of the top picks in 2026.
