XPeng GX Flagship SUV Set for Malaysian Debut in H2 2026

Following the successful launch of the XPeng G6, fresh developments have emerged regarding XPeng Malaysia's premium product roadmap. An all-new flagship SUV is scheduled to arrive in Malaysia in the second half of 2026, with sales expected to commence as early as Q3 or Q4.

Global Strategy: GX Takes the Lead

According to the latest updates from XPeng headquarters, the brand has solidified its global expansion framework. As highlighted during a recent press briefing, "XPeng moves upward, GX leads the way; XPeng moves outward, with multiple global models launching this year." This suggests a potential rollout for the Malaysian market, potentially placing the SUV ahead of the XPeng P7 right-hand drive (RHD) version, which is currently in pre-production.

XPeng GX Specifications

Dimensions: Measuring 5,265 mm in length with a 3,115 mm wheelbase, the GX is a true full-size SUV designed for maximum road presence.

Dual Powertrain Options: The China-spec model offers both a BEV (800V architecture with 5C fast charging) and an EREV (1.5T range extender, with a total range exceeding 1,500 km).

Cabin Layout: Featuring a 2+2+2 six-seater configuration, the interior includes second-row zero-gravity seats and third-row seats that fold flat via 180-degree electrical adjustment.

Performance: The BEV variant features a dual-motor setup delivering 540 kW, achieving 0-100 km/h in approximately 4 seconds.

Market Outlook

While it remains to be officially confirmed whether Malaysia will receive the GX or the G9 (which is nearing its Australian launch), the GX is a strong candidate given XPeng's global strategy. With a starting price in China of approximately CNY 399,800 (approx. RM231,792), the GX is set to go head-to-head with luxury electric SUVs like the Kia EV9 upon its local arrival.
