The legendary Honda Prelude is making its long-awaited comeback!
Honda Indonesia recently announced exciting news: the entire initial allocation of 100 units for the all-new sixth-generation 2026 Honda Prelude was completely sold out within just three days of opening for bookings. Due to overwhelming demand, the company quickly increased the quota by another 150 units.
While Malaysian enthusiasts can now officially place their bookings, the excitement here is somewhat tempered. Local pricing is expected to be significantly higher than in our neighbouring countries.

In Indonesia, the Prelude is priced at IDR 974.9 million (approximately RM223,000), positioning it well below the local Civic Type R (FL5). However, due to Malaysia's unique tax structure, industry sources predict the two-door coupe could land in Malaysia at around RM399,900.
At that price point, the budget for a Prelude in Malaysia would put buyers dangerously close to the territory of the Civic Type R.

Don't let the "Hybrid" badge mislead you — this new Prelude is far from a dull fuel-sipper. It utilises the same 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine and dual-motor system found in the Civic e:HEV, producing a combined output of 203 PS and 232 lb-ft of torque.
Key Highlights:

In Indonesia, the Prelude is positioned as an accessible, entry-level sports coupe — significantly more affordable than the Civic Type R. In Malaysia, however, it is likely to be marketed as a premium lifestyle sports car for enthusiasts with deeper pockets.
With an expected price of around RM400,000, the big question remains: Would you go for the raw, adrenaline-pumping Civic Type R (FL5), or opt for this elegant, fuel-efficient yet genuinely sporty hybrid coupe?
