Zeekr has unveiled its 2026 market development strategy and product roadmap for Malaysia at a recent brand event in the country. As the brand’s visibility continues to rise locally, the automaker has confirmed that it will introduce three new models to Malaysia this year, alongside a major announcement – its Zeekr 7X SUV will be assembled locally via Complete Knock-Down (CKD) in Malaysia, marking Zeekr’s pivotal first step into global CKD production.

Zeekr’s ambitions for the Malaysian market are evident from the details shared at the event. For its 2026 overall development strategy, the brand has outlined five key priorities: expanding its network of showrooms and after-sales service centres nationwide, strengthening partnerships and enhancing retail experiences, elevating owner and after-sales service experiences, increasing investment in brand promotion, and bringing in more high-end models. In short, Zeekr is not just focused on selling cars in Malaysia; it aims to build a comprehensive luxury electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem and solidify its premium brand image in the market.

On sales targets, Zeekr has set concrete figures: the brand plans to hit a cumulative sales volume of 10,000 units in Malaysia between 2025 and 2027, and is aiming to surpass 10,000 units in annual sales by 2028. Given that Malaysia’s EV market is still in a growth phase, these targets reflect a bold approach and underscore Zeekr’s confidence in the local premium EV segment.

Product planning was a key highlight of the launch. Per Zeekr’s 2026 product roadmap, the three new models set for Malaysia are the Zeekr X, Zeekr 7X and Zeekr 009. Spanning multiple segments – from the entry-level luxury crossover SUV (Zeekr X), to the mid-to-large SUV (Zeekr 7X), and the luxury pure electric MPV (Zeekr 009) – the lineup is set to fully establish Zeekr’s product range in Malaysia in one go.
The Zeekr 7X is the most highly anticipated model of the three. Officially confirmed at the event, it will be the first model for Zeekr’s global CKD production initiative, with Malaysia as the launch pad. Local CKD assembly is expected to make the Zeekr 7X more price-competitive in Malaysia, while also boosting the country’s local automotive supply chain and creating job opportunities – a win-win for both Zeekr and Malaysia’s automotive industry.
Beyond the three confirmed models, Zeekr also teased more new product plans for Malaysia in 2026, including a refreshed compact premium SUV, a redefined luxury model, and an all-new flagship model. While specific model names were not revealed at the event, it is clear that Zeekr’s lineup in Malaysia will expand beyond three models, with the brand set to build a more complete luxury EV range for the local market.
Overall, Zeekr’s strategy for Malaysia is clear-cut: it will leverage the Zeekr X to break into the entry-level luxury EV market, the Zeekr 7X to tap into the mainstream premium SUV segment, and the Zeekr 009 to cement its flagship brand image. Coupled with simultaneous local CKD assembly and network expansion, Zeekr is targeting a firm foothold in Malaysia’s premium EV market in the short term.
With the rollout of its CKD plan, the arrival of its new product lineup, and the parallel expansion of its brand and after-sales service ecosystem, Zeekr’s upcoming moves in Malaysia are highly anticipated by the local automotive industry and consumers alike.
