The Bestune B70 is a front-engine, front-wheel-drive D-segment sedan produced by FAW Bestune. First launched in 2006, it serves as both the founding model and the cornerstone of the FAW Bestune brand. It also stands as one of the longest-running Chinese proprietary nameplates in the D-segment three-box sedan category, having now evolved into its fourth generation.

The Bestune B70 is positioned as a C-to-D-segment crossover fastback sedan. As a key pillar of China FAW's passenger car lineup, it is widely recognised as the pioneer among Chinese proprietary mid-to-high-end executive sedans. Its core selling propositions include a spacious fastback profile balancing executive practicality and sportiness, an integrated dual-screen cockpit, a well-sorted chassis, and strong value for money. The model caters primarily to pragmatic family buyers, daily urban commuters, and motorists seeking generous rear cabin width.
The evolution of the Bestune B70 reflects the steady technical maturation of FAW's in-house vehicle engineering.
First Generation (2006–2014): Built on the first-generation Mazda 6 platform, the car featured a sophisticated front double-wishbone and rear multi-link independent suspension setup paired with Mazda powertrain technology, establishing a solid reputation for mechanical reliability and engaging handling.
Second Generation (2014–2019): Styled by renowned Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, this generation migrated to the second-generation Mazda 6 (Ruiyi) platform and marked the debut of FAW’s proprietary 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
Third Generation (2020–2023): Underpinned by FAW’s modular FMA architecture, the wheelbase was stretched to 2,800 mm. It introduced distinctive Chinese dagger-axe ("Ge") styled headlamps and a fastback tailgate, completing the model’s shift towards a younger, tech-focused design language.
Fourth Generation (Late 2023 to present): Adopting the brand's latest frameless "Layered Peaks" front grille and full-width LED light bars, the line-up continued to expand into 2025 and 2026 with personalised variants like the Black Knight Edition. With official retail pricing maintained at an accessible RM98,800 to RM137,900, cumulative historical sales have comfortably crossed the multi-hundred-thousand mark.
The Bestune B70 maintains stable performance within China's D-segment sedan category. Amid intense price wars sparked by the rapid rise of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), the pure-petrol B70 has sustained its market share across tier-3 and tier-4 cities and among value-driven private car buyers through competitive dealer pricing. Globally, as a primary export model for FAW Group, the Bestune B70 records steady sales volumes in emerging markets including the Middle East (such as Saudi Arabia and the UAE), Central Asia, Eastern Europe, and South America. With overseas retail pricing typically ranging from RM21,000 to RM27,000, its segment-busting wheelbase and comprehensive comfort amenities have made it one of China’s benchmark sedan exports.
In terms of exterior dimensions, the fourth-generation Bestune B70 boasts generous proportions, measuring 4,855 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width, and 1,455 mm in height, with an expansive 2,800 mm wheelbase. The practical fastback boot provides between 440 L and 500 L of luggage capacity in its standard layout.
The powertrain lineup offers two proven pure-petrol configurations:
1.5T Powertrain: Powered by FAW's in-house 1.5-litre inline-four turbocharged engine (engine code CA4GB15TD-30), delivering 124 kW (approx. 169 PS) and 258 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (7DCT), returning an official WLTC combined fuel consumption of 6.4 L to 6.8 L/100 km.
2.0T Powertrain: Geared for drivers wanting more performance reserves, this variant runs a 2.0-litre inline-four turbocharged engine tuned to produce 165 kW (approx. 224 PS) and 340 Nm of torque. Power is managed by an Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission (6AT), with top speed electronically limited to 200 km/h.
Chassis dynamics are handled by front MacPherson struts and a rear multi-link independent suspension setup. In the cabin, digital equipment includes a 7-inch digital instrument cluster paired with a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, driven by the D-Life 6.0 operating system and powered by a MediaTek 8666 chipset. On the safety front, it features Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including full-speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), and Lane Departure Warning (LDW).
In response to tighter automotive regulations worldwide and the transition toward low-carbon mobility, FAW Bestune is preparing multi-powertrain updates for its core platform. Future roadmaps focus on "multi-powertrain platform expansion" and "global smart driving compliance". While preserving the structural crash safety of the FMA platform, FAW Bestune plans to introduce hybrid electric (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains across future derivatives to cut fuel consumption and meet export carbon tax requirements. Additionally, export-spec variants will receive deeper software localisation, including multilingual voice control and regional navigation ecosystems, reinforcing the model's competitive edge in the global value-driven D-segment market.
